Julie Young – Head Coach
Julie Young returns to the Villanova sidelines for her third year at the helm of the Villanova women's lacrosse team in 2013-14. Young was named the eighth head coach in the history of the program on June 23rd, 2011 after spending the previous three seasons as the head coach at Haverford College.
In her second season at the helm of the Wildcats in 2013, Young registered a 6-10 overall record and a 1-7 mark in the highly-competitive BIG EAST Conference and began to see dramatic improvement with the squad since taking over the program. After finishing the 2012 season with a 4-12 mark, Young and the Wildcats were named the fourth most improved team over the course of one season by laxpower.com and saw their RPI rise to its highest mark in seven years. It also marked the second consecutive season Young and her coaches guided a player to the All-BIG EAST ranks as Jackie Froccaro earned Second Team All-BIG EAST accolades after following the footsteps of Justine Donodeo's Second Team All-BIG EAST laurels just one year earlier.
The season also saw Villanova serve as the Host Institution for the 2013 NCAA Women's Lacrosse National Championship where nearly 15,000 spectators came to watch the top collegiate lacrosse action in the nation over Memorial Day Weekend in front of a nationally televised audience.Read more »
